About us  

Radio in Schools, SheffieldChildren and Radio has been active since 2004 and in 2012 became a project from the charity London Link Radio. The aims of the project are:

  • To advance the education of the public in all aspects of radio broadcasting for and by children and young people, in particular but not exclusively by:
    • (a) providing a forum for the exchange of information on all aspects of radio broadcasting for and by children and young people;
    • (b) undertaking research into all aspects of radio broadcasting for and by children and young people and disseminating the results of such research to the public.
  • To advance the education and training of children and young people in the skills of sound recording and production and the making of radio programmes.

Currently, the main activity is the maintaining of this information website.

In 2004-5 Children and Radio* carried out a research study into children participating in radio, which was supported by Voice of the Listener Trust and the research company ChildWise.  The results and report are available on this website.
